Its not often
That my words are truly taken away
When I cannot
Begin to string together
A coherent thought
To explain the frustration
The pain
The edge of horror
The bitterness
That burns the tip of my tongue
Today is one such day
I cannot bear to look in the mirror
And see my haunted eyes
I cannot bear to speak
Lest the tremble of my voice gives away
The very real need to scream
Even to write
The words grate
So now i sit
And watch mindlessly
And hope that i stay numb
Just long enough
To make it thru this
Peace in the valley
A candle in the dark
Hold me
Keep me safe

In the hour before dawn
In the hour before dawn
silence is golden
though the sky remains dark
each breath seems louder
each heartbeat
more meaningful
each caress
just somehow more tender
in the hour before dawn
there is no witness
no words shall be spoken
of the magic that unfolds
while the world is sleeping
we two are awake
in the hour before dawn
From ‘Guilty Pleasures’
The hour after dawn is the most private of all. It is a time to be alone and enjoy the silence.
The only hour more hushed is three a.m. and I am not a fan of three a.m
Guilty Pleasures is a novel by Laurell K Hamilton. It’s book 1 in the Anita Blake series…. One of my favourite authors… her status updates on Facebook are more often than not brilliant. Best to date:
I prefer to run meetings the way contract assassins do kills: fast, efficient, goal oriented, and with as little chatter as possible.
